Since 2012, The Designers Foundry has been offering quality, accessible and interesting typefaces. We are a very small team who are deeply passionate about what we do. Over the years, we have built and refined a trusted network of expert collaborators from around the world, and currently have over 60 retail typefaces available online.

We have sold nearly 100,000 licenses to to an array of customers, from students to major corporations. Some of our major clients include Apple, BBC, Disney, Nike, Netflix, MTV, Virgin, Random House, Hugo Boss, GAP, EA Games and ESPN to name a few.

You purchase a typeface license to grant you specific usage rights of that typefaces software. At The Designers Foundry, we provide two standard licensing options: Desktop, WebFont licenses.

Our licensing options have been crafted to accommodate a wide array of both common and unconventional applications for typefaces. However, if you find that your specific intended use falls outside the scope of our standard licenses, feel free to contact us and we'll work with you to create a custom license tailored to your unique needs.

All licenses are a one-time payment unless you outgrow your license size.

The Desktop License is by far our most commonly purchased license. This is the license you'll need to design branding, logos, publications, posters, t-shirts etc. You can also design static images (jpg, png, gif) for use online or in social media.

The Desktop license is priced according to the number of users that will be using the typeface. Discounts are applied when licensing for more than 2 users. The number of users purchased must equal or exceed your requirements.

Our WebFont licenses are based upon the number of visitors you expect your website to have on average within a monthly period. The scaled options are designed to suit all of our customers from students to global corporations. We also offer unlimited options, contact us.

Our WebFont license files include WOFF2 and are hinted for web usage. A basic CSS file is included with your license.

The Unlimited License is the ultimate freedom in font licensing. Your creativity and usage metrics are fully unrestricted. It's the ultimate choice for those who demand stress-free flexibility. We design custom typefaces as well as modify our exisiting retail fonts. We can design fonts in any language, variable fonts, color fonts and beyond.

MAC: Open Font Book, select all the files and drag them from your finder window into Font Book. You can also add your typeface by clicking "File" in the menu bar while in Font Book and then "Add Fonts".

Alternatively you can copy/paste the files into your system "Fonts" folds; Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts.

PC: After the font has been downloaded to your computer, double-click on the font file. The file will open in a new window. Click “install” and the font will automatically install.

All payments made on this website are managed by the global leading e-commerce payment service Stripe. All payments are PCI Level 1 compliant via a HTTPS connection. Payments are secure and protected. The Designers Foundry does not have access to any sensitive payment information.

For large scale orders ($1000+) we are able to accept bank transfer. Please contact us for more information.

We design physical products from time to time. These are produced in very limited numbers and can be shipped internationally from our office in New Zealand, please allow 2-5 weeks for shipping. If a product is sold out, it likely will never be restocked.

We are open for new typeface submissions. We welcome any and all designers to apply to join us. Your typeface does not need to be completed to submit, we can help you with production and engineering if needed. We strive to offer a curated library of typefaces on The Designers Foundry, submission does not guarantee your typeface will be published.
